The Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department (JIM) arrested 77 illegal immigrants for various offences under the Immigration Act in a Special Operation at two Nilai industrial premises here yesterday.
Its director Mohd Razip Yasin said all those arrested in the more than three-hour operation that began at 9.50 am involved 65 men and 11 women and a girl aged between 17 and 50.
“Of the total, 39 are Bangladeshis, one Indonesian, Myanmar (29), Nepalese (two) and Indian (six).
“All were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963 and placed at the Lenggeng Immigration Depot, for further action,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Razip said three witness summons forms were also issued to employers or premises guardians to appear at JIMNS to assist in the investigation.
He called on the public to report related activities to combat the influx of illegal immigrants in the country and his party will take strict action against any employer or individual found to be employing or protecting them
