Online Trader Claims Trial Over Alleged ‘Female Attire’ Offence in Kelantan

An online trader pleaded not guilty at the Kota Bharu Syariah Lower Court today to a charge of allegedly behaving like a woman at the Kelantan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jaheaik) last November.

Khairul Izwan Sidi Ahmad, 25, entered the plea after the charge was read before Syariah Judge Wan Mohd Firdaus W Ibrahim.

According to the charge, he allegedly wore a T-shirt, slim-fit shirt, women’s underwear and women’s slippers at Jaheaik’s Enforcement Division at about 2.35pm on Nov 9 last year.

The charge was brought under Section 19(1) of the Syariah Criminal Code (I) Enactment 2019, which provides for a fine of up to RM3,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both upon conviction.

The prosecution sought bail of RM1,000 with one surety.

His lawyers requested a lower amount, citing his status as a person with disabilities (OKU) and his role in contributing to his family’s expenses.

The court granted bail at RM1,000 with one surety and fixed Dec 1 for further mention of the case.

The accused subsequently paid the bail set by the court.
