Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, are scheduled to attend the national-level Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M celebration at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts and Cultural Centre (PKKSSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang, tomorrow.
Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan would also attend the celebration, themed ‘MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati’, which is scheduled to begin at 7.30 am.
“About 4,000 participants from 100 contingents representing ministries, agencies and statutory bodies will take part in this year’s celebration.
“The event is being organised with UPM as a strategic partner, providing the venue and logistical support to ensure the programme runs smoothly and comfortably,” he said in a statement today.
Sirajuddin said the highlight of the celebration would be the presentation of the Maulidur Rasul 1448H/2026M Awards, comprising one Perdana Award and eight Maulidur Rasul SAW Awards.
“These awards recognise individuals who have made meaningful contributions in their respective fields to the development of religion, the community and the country, as well as made a positive impact on the well-being of society,” he said.
On the theme, he said it was chosen to encourage the community to take Prophet Muhammad SAW as a role model in building a progressive, united and prosperous society.
Sirajuddin said key activities for the celebration included a contingent parade accompanied by selawat recitations, a special women’s forum, as well as programmes organised by the National Mosque, Putra Mosque and Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque.
“JAKIM is also promoting greater appreciation of Maulidur Rasul through a special edition of the ‘JAKIM Untuk Ummah’ podcast and ‘Uswatun Hasanah’ segments on Zayan Radio, featuring messages on the character, good conduct and exemplary qualities of Prophet Muhammad SAW,” he said.
He said this year’s celebration would be held on a modest scale while remaining lively, prestigious and meaningful, without compromising its spirit, dignity or main objective of strengthening the propagation of Islam.
The public are invited to attend the celebration, which will run until noon. The event will also be broadcast live on RTM TV1, as well as through several radio stations and JAKIM’s official social media platforms.
