Erin Patterson, 51, has begun an appeal against her convictions and sentence after being found guilty of murdering three relatives of her estranged husband and attempting to murder a fourth with a meal containing toxic death cap mushrooms.
She was sentenced to life in prison with a non-parole period of 33 years. Patterson has maintained that the deaths were accidental.
Her appeal is being heard by Victoria’s Court of Appeal on Aug 19 and 20. Prosecutors are also challenging her sentence, arguing that it should be harsher.
