Five areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index, or API, readings as of 9am on Aug 19.
Serian recorded the highest reading at 158, followed by Kuching at 156, Sri Aman at 152, Mukah at 125 and Samarahan at 109.
Meanwhile, 58 areas in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak recorded moderate air quality, while five areas, including Langkawi and Kangar, recorded good readings.
Under the API classification, readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy.
