Singapore Airlines Flight to New York Turns Back After Mid-Air Glitch

A Singapore Airlines flight to Newark, New York, was forced to turn back to Changi Airport shortly after take-off due to an unspecified technical issue.

Flight SQ22 left Singapore at 11.35pm on Aug 12 but returned at 3.06am the next day. The Airbus A350-900 was taken for repairs.

All 133 passengers and 17 crew members disembarked and returned to the terminal.

A replacement aircraft later departed at 5.41am after a fresh crew was arranged, as the original crew could not continue due to flight time limits.

Singapore Airlines apologised for the disruption and said safety remained its top priority.
