Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has dismissed speculation that the ministry’s monthly assembly on Thursday could be his last with ministry staff.
Speaking after the assembly in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 13, Loke said he was “very relaxed” ahead of the DAP special congress scheduled for Sunday.
About 4,000 DAP delegates are expected to vote in a secret ballot on whether the party’s leaders, including Cabinet members, should remain in the federal government for the rest of the current parliamentary term.
The decision comes after electoral setbacks for DAP and Pakatan Harapan. Loke also lost his Chennah state seat after serving three terms.
DAP has said that the vote concerns its participation in the federal government and will not affect its position in Pakatan Harapan. The party has also said it would continue supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament even if its leaders leave government positions.
