Rosmah Mansor Sues Harith Iskander Over Alleged Defamatory Comedy Performance

Rosmah Mansor has filed a defamation lawsuit against actor and comedian Harith Iskander, alleging that he insulted her appearance and physical features during a comedy performance in January.

The lawsuit, filed on 9 June at the High Court, claims Harith displayed an image of a supernatural figure before showing Rosmah’s photograph during his “Harith Iskander: The Outspoken Comedy Tour” at Hotel Swiss-Garden, Melaka. Rosmah alleged he also told the audience that drivers looking into their rear-view mirror on a dark road would “see something scary,” which she said implied she was frightening and associated her with a supernatural being.

Rosmah, 75, claimed the remarks were made with malicious intent to damage her reputation, humiliate her through body shaming, and ridicule her before a live audience. She also said two TikTok videos of the performance were uploaded by user @mayychan0303 and received thousands of views.

Represented by Hafarizam & Aisha Mubarak, Rosmah is seeking general, aggravated and exemplary damages, an injunction to stop further publication of the alleged defamatory statements, and an unconditional public apology in two mainstream newspapers and on social media.

Her lawyers, Mohamed Baharudeen Mohamed Ariff and Nur-Diana Ezlyn Hashim, confirmed the suit and said case management is scheduled for 31 July. Harith’s lawyer, Sangeet Kaur Deo, also confirmed the matter.

In his defence, Harith, 60, denied that the performance portrayed Rosmah as a frightening or defamatory figure. He also said the TikTok videos were uploaded without his knowledge or consent and did not reflect the full context of the comedy performance.
