A man was fatally stabbed during a fight believed to have been triggered by jealousy in an incident at Kilometre 12, Jalan Trans Perak, early Tuesday morning.
Perak Tengah District Police Chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police received information about the incident at 5.49am.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained stab wounds during an altercation with a 30-year-old man who has already been identified by police.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment but was pronounced dead by a medical officer,” Hafezul Helmi said in a statement.
Police investigations found that the suspect fled the scene in a black Proton Wira sedan bearing registration number WGX 3707.
Authorities believe the incident was motivated by jealousy.
Hafezul Helmi said an operation to track down the suspect is currently underway, while the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
