Malaysia’s Anwar Praises Modi’s Leadership After Record-Breaking Tenure

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving democratically elected prime minister, marking a historic milestone in the country’s political history.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Anwar described the achievement as a reflection of Modi’s years of dedicated public service and leadership, which he said had contributed significantly to India’s growth, prosperity and standing on the global stage.

Modi, who first assumed office in May 2014, surpassed the record previously held by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, after completing 4,398 days in office on June 9. The milestone makes him the longest-serving elected prime minister in India’s history.

Anwar also reaffirmed Malaysia’s appreciation for its longstanding friendship with India and expressed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties. He said both countries should continue working together to create new opportunities and deepen cooperation for the benefit of their people.

The Prime Minister also wished Modi continued success in his leadership and expressed hopes for lasting peace, progress and prosperity for the people of India.
